Our cabins are tucked away in Lisogne, in the Leffe valley, a few minutes from Dinant. Between the Meuse and the Lesse, castles and abbeys, the Upper Meuse can be explored on foot, by kayak or by car. Here are our favourites.
Dinant, just next door
- The Citadel — high above the Meuse, reached by its 408 steps or by cable car. Stunning view over the town.
- The Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame — a Gothic gem nestled at the foot of the rock, the symbol of Dinant.
- Bouvignes — one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, with the Maison du patrimoine médiéval mosan and the ruins of Crèvecœur castle, with a spectacular view over the valley.
- The Dinant couque — taste the local speciality, made the traditional way by Dinant’s biscuit bakers.
The Leffe, our valley
The stream flowing at the foot of the cabins is the Leffe. It joins the Meuse in Dinant, at the foot of Notre-Dame de Leffe Abbey, where Premonstratensian canons have lived for nearly nine centuries. The Maison Leffe (across the Meuse) tells the story of the famous beer and offers tastings.
On the water: kayaking down the Lesse
THE must-do outing in the area: a gentle trip between rocks, forests and Walzin castle, down to Anseremme.
- Houyet → Anseremme: 21 km, about 5 hours of paddling.
- Gendron → Anseremme: 12 km, ideal with children.
- Suitable from age 5 depending on the water level; life jacket compulsory for children under 10.
- Booking strongly recommended in season, with the kayak rental companies in Anseremme.
Castles and gardens
- Freÿr Castle and Gardens — Renaissance residence on the Meuse, opposite the famous climbing rocks.
- Walzin Castle — perched on its cliff above the Lesse; the best view is from a kayak!
- Vêves Castle — a fairy-tale fortress, one of the best preserved in Belgium.
- Annevoie Gardens — 18th-century water gardens where the fountains work without a single pump.
A little further afield
- Maredsous Abbey — neo-Gothic Benedictine abbey, famous for its beer and cheese.
- Han Caves — Wallonia’s great underground site, with its wildlife park.
- Dinant Aventure in Anseremme — via ferrata, zip line, caving: for thrill-seekers.
